Default NEW suspension for the lude

whats going on guys i currently have blue tokico gas shocks and tein s tech springs. I have had this set up for 2 years and replaced the back shocks twice, and now they need to be replaced again. I've decided to switch up my suspension. I wanted more of a drop and shocks that were adjustable, so i wanted to know what do you guys think about these setups and which was best for me. I will be daily driving my 95 prelude, and going to the track prob.... once a month.

Tokico illumnas and GC coil overs
TEIN super street COILOVER DAMPER
Kyb Agx and GC coil overs

imo a good sleeve/shock combo is better than any of the lower end coilovers.

koni/gc or tokico/gc should run great. i have illuminas with the ots ground controls and couldn't be happier. great compromise between ride quality and handling plus the illuminas give you a decent range of adjustability.

I think im leaning more toward the tokico illuminaa, and gc coil overs because this is going on a daily driver not a race car, i mean occasionally i will be doing a 1/4 mile hear and there but thats about it. What you guys think? whats the difference between kyb agx's and tokico illuminas?

And what spring rate should i go for, keep in mind its a DD, and i will be running 1/4mile races???

agx are poo. i'm really getting used to the way illuminas ride/adjust. i have kept them at the stiffest setting 95% of the time. when you set it to 1, it seriously feels like a boat. i set it to 3 when taking a girl out. any lower and i will occasionally bottom out at the height i am at.

the performance at 5 is excellent. i am running ground control ots rates and have never felt underdamped wit the illuminas.

i would suggest getting ots rates if you are going to daily drive it. if you are serious about drag racing, then you would want to bump up the rear spring rate a bit. if you just do it for fun, the ots rates are great.

OTS is generally 'Off The Shelf'....like parts that manufacturers keep several of on hand, not custom order stuff.

I's buy from the guy with 33,000 tranactions and 99.5% over the other guy But either way you still get the same parts.

Koni's are infinitely adjustable pretty much. From very soft to very, very firm. If you aren't dropped more than 1.5inches the tokicos will work fine. konis also have a lifetime guarantee.

yes, i used to be slammed and they held up fine. i raised it up about 1/2 inch and am flush with the fender for better handling. this means that it's still dropped about 3 inches.

I have to ask when you have gone through so many Tokico, why do you wanna waste more money??? Just buy some Koni yellows, very adjustable, lifetime warranty, and how many people blow them up anyways?? I say try the Konis with springs you have now, and if you want something more than that, get the ground Control coilovers for the Konis and swap that out.

well, what i've learned is that tokico blues are made in china and are stock replacements, and illumnias in japan, second the illumnas are adjustable and can handle drops up to 3 inches. And if i where to buy konis now and get them put on my springs now i would have to pay my mechanic another 300 bucks to put new springs in when i decide to change them again. Im currently in School so i DONT have a steady income to keep changing springs.
So i am trying to do it right the first time around
