Default Hoping for an answer asap ... noise coming from valve cover.

Recently had the head gasket replaced, got the car back been about 1000miles .. haven't vtec'd much or drove hard, been taking it easy, today when i arrived home I started hearing quite the racket from the valve cover ..

movie here :: http://members.shaw.ca/andrew.b/engine.mov

Sounds like a very loud diesel, mostly sounds like its coming from the intake side.

I took off the oil cap and theres quite a bit of air flowing out, not sure if thats normal, oil is good, going to take off valve cover right now .. im hoping somebody may have some advice on what this could be.

Have you double checked valve clearance? I know most any Honda will sound diesel-ish if the specs are just a bit loose.

the bolts arent the concern. Its the amount of space between the cams and the rocker arms that is to concern. If the space is too big, you will get that sound.

Yes sir, it sounds like horribly loose valve lash.

The bolts being tight has nothing to do with it like Blake said. You have to loosen them and slide a feeler gauige between the base circle of the cam and the rocker arm and adjust the little screw to get it within spec. Too tight and it will wear things out and burn valves and too loose and it will cause a noisy valvetrain like that...

FIXED!

From beyond.ca, turns out the bolt holding the came gear into the exhaust camshaft was loose.. tightened her up and the noise is gone now.. phew, inspected all the other rockers etc. and everything looks good.
