Default What is the name of this part?

My car was stolen on Wednesday, and we got it back within a few hours, thanks to whoever stole it and their stupidity for driving "suspiciously" through the neighborhood for 15 minutes straight.

Problem is, I'm having trouble naming this part so I can look it up and match prices for a new/used-but-in-good-shape one. And also just so I know.

I plan on making my way to a junk yard maybe today and looking for this part, I just want to sound like I know what I'm talking about when I get there... of course just calling it the "ignition thingy" should work fine

Thanks for your help,
bleg

EDIT: Wow the pictures look a little blurry... it could be the haze though, since it's really humid out.

Alright cool, thanks.

Yeah I went to this one junkyard near my house... they don't sell individual parts like that, I'd have to buy the whole stupid column... $125

At the dealership it'd be $300

Interesting... I can't in the PM link, so I dunno how to PM you.

But would it be possible to buy just that metal piece? The key and all the electronic stuff works perfectly (I just don't want to pay for something I already have that works and isn't broken).

What I'm thinking the thieves did was hammer that piece from the right to snap it, because the whole column is crooked and the plastic covers (were they not already broken) wouldn't fit straight over all of the stuff.

Sweet, thanks. I hope that guy comes back, I still dunno how to PM (isn't there supposed to be a link next to their name about PMing?), but yeah, if it isn't too expensive that'd be great.

The name is obvious:
"A picture taken too damn close to the camera without macro on or utilized correctly."

Unfortunately you can't buy common sense.

Syndacate, I didn't ask for smart comments; if you don't want to help then I don't need you posting in this thread. And FYI, I took the pictures from about a foot away from the part, plenty of space - the problem was that the heat in the car was making everything blurry, just like how the heat hazes off the road during the day making it blurry as well.

n1, sounds good... I'll keep that in mind when I check pricing

The heat in the car was making everything blurry?

Yeah, that explains why the background is 100% crystal ******* clear.

Good deal, chief.

Hey n1... if you still have those ignition cylinders for $50, I'm running out of ideas.

If you want, I'll email you soon... Right now I'm a little busy.
