Stock Muffler Pics?
From memory and pics, the following should be black: the can (front, back, top, bottom), the bracket with the hangers & the hangers themselves, the heatshield above the can, and the short section of pipe between the muffler and the exhaust finisher.
The entire muffler is flat black. All heatshields not attached to muffler will be original matte silver metal finish. The exhaust finisher/tip is polished.
cool. Thanks guys. I figured it was what you guys said. I'm polishing my cat back, lower part of the exhaust manifold and the headshild on the muffler. I'm thinking it will just rust from sitting with it being bare metal like it is n ow. I'm going to sell the car but I want the buyer to be completely happy with how clean the car is. I already have 1200degree flat black paint for the heat shield, top portion of the header and the black parts of the muffler. Any suggestions on painting the parts where it was silver? I wish I could leave it as is. (looks awesome polished) but I know in the long run it will start to corrode like before. Probably just a 1200degree silver exhaust paint?

wire brush wheel attached to an air hose. High speed ziiiiiiing! I think I'm just going to end up spray painting it with some high temp silver paint. Looks amazing now but I know it won't hold up for whoever buys my car.
Personally, I wouldn't want the exhaust to be painted in that silver paint. It will start to flake the first time an area gets hit with a rock or something.
Why are you so worried about how the exhaust piping looks?
