OEM lugs can handle:

5mm just fine...0.2"

8mm will be pushing it...0.3"

Don't go over 1/4 inch...6mm

Does the offset of the wheel also play a part in how much spacer you can run?

cool thanks. all im really worried about is shredding the threads of the lug nuts and having a wheel fly off like hunter (i think) at Expo.

Was that the cause or was it the lugs had the wrong thread pitch? No clue, just stories I heard.

WTF is Walker undercover now?

i have no idea what the cause was, im just speculating. i would think using a spacer and overtightening the lugs means less threads to bite on the stud and it could weaken the threads on the lugs after doing it a few times. :shrugs:

I read somewhere that the minimum safe thread engagement is 7 threads or 7 turns.

The offset of the wheel and amount of spacer you run has no bearing on what studs you run.

Yes it does, or it should be said like, the stud you run does have a bearing on what offset and size spacers you run.

Corey, a +32 offset and a +50 offset wheel mated with a 3mm spacer can use the same stock length stud.

Different wheel offsets has nothing to do with wheel studs as long as you are using the same exact spacer for each.

Not quite... a +32 offset wheel will NEVER fit on OEM studs...

Using a +50 offset wheel with a 3mm spacer will allow you to use stock studs...

I couldn't get 1 thread threaded on my +33s...

21mms is a big difference.

How would a wheel's offset affect studs, seems to me it would just depend on the design of the wheel. I've seen 0 offset on stock studs. Unless your wheel just had a thicker hub to depict the offset?

that rim must have a really thick hub, cause plenty of people run offsets lower than 32 on stock studs...

I have too.

Just depends on the wheel then. My +33s use every bit of the ARP extended studs.

Which wheel(s) or manufacturer(s) did you use that couldn't fit stock lugs? That disk must have had thick hub face...don't know any wheels that are made like that.

My old BBS RG-F 15x7 +33 fit just fine. Along with 5mm spacer to make it +28.

I've heard some people say 6 turns, others say 7. If it's less than six, definitely get extended studs.

A thick hub face to gain offset, never heard of that. Must be those JDM wheels you had.
