Hydrolocked?? HOw hard to fix?
SO it was raining so fu*kin hard last night and i had to drive home from work...i drove real slow, like 30 mph( i have a cai), and on the way home my car sputters and shuts off in the freeway, and im like oh fu*k, but then i started it back up and it worked, right when i got off the freeway it shuts off again and doesnt work, so im thinking it sucked in a lotta water and locked up
But the thing is my car wouldn't crank, is that normal if ur car hydrolocked?
How much does it cost to repair the motor, its a D-series, is it only the bottom end thats messed up?
Cliffs: Rain hard, have CAI, car hydrolocked...how much to fix

when that happened to me i changed my oil. Then i put the car on a hill (water was dripping out exhaust). After i took out spark plug wires and cranked it a few times.
first things first, take out your spark plugs (all of them) and unplug all the inj. grounds, it's that one plug on the driver side, if it's a ef it's going to got to a resister box, if it's and eg or dc it's going to go to a gray plug cap with pings in it. either way unplug it, (the last thing you want to do is to keep throwing fuel in to the cyl. when your cranking it, frist do that to see if it's hydro locked or not. if it still dons't crank over check your batt. and your ing, wire on the starter (it's the smallest one) and then go from there also it's very importent to check your timming belt before you crank it, (hydro lock has been known to brake rods, thus very easily braking or damaging the timeing belt ( due to water not being able to compress.)) good luck

I would do that first before trying to turn the motor over by hand.

dont crank manually. Take plugs out, disconnect injectors, and crank over with the key. Same thing happened to me. Motor wont compress water, so it either wont crank, or something will break. Anyway, if it cranks, and doesnt sound horrible, then let it dry out. Maybe blow dry the inside or something, but let it dry out, then put back together and start it up. GL
ok am i suppose to take the spark plugs out or can i just pull the spark wires, cuz i disconnected my injectors already, and wat grey plug do i unplug, i see two on my driver side right next to each other.
You must take the plugs out to let the water in the engine out. If it was my car I wouldn't worrly about the injectors. you're not going to be cranking enough times to wory about the extra fuel going in there. Maybe when you are done cranking blow down the spark plug holes with compressed air to help dry it out.
Cranking it manually isnt going to hurt anything...
Pull the plugs and turn the damn thing.
If it doesnt turn, youre probably screwed and have siezed the pistons or bent the rods.
(Water does not compress.........easily)
I will never understand why so many people out west dont have a bypass filter and always seem to suck up water. You guys have terrible drainage systems out there

just for the record, i didnt say it would hurt anything, but its way easier to pull the plugs and turn the motor over that way. And when i went through this, I pulled plugs, left injectors, and cranked the motor for a while, which actually pushed some water out through the holes, then i let it sit for a day or so. Then started it up.

X 2
CAI + bypass filter OR short ram

i have a bypass filter but it dont fit. i sucked up water one night and it would run and crank but if i tried to floor it, it would jitter on me and i would have to let go of the gas.. all i did was put injector cleaner in 93 grade.. and then let it sit running for 20min and i was fine after that
ok, so i pulled the plugs and it cranked!! and a crapload of water sprayed on my homie, so i cranked until not much more water squirted out anymore and let it sit in the sun for a lil.
so then i put everything back and crank it, its about to start then dies.....then it wont crank at all anymore..., so i pull the pplugs again and this time it wont even crank at all, so im like wtf!??!
not enough power to crank or did i seize my engine?
