Will a stock B18A1 in a 90civic si pass smog?
My tags r up in Oct. which means smog check should i pass smog w/ my stock engine and then swap my B18a1? Lets say i hooked everything up right no check engine light would the ref even want to check it when he sees its a DOHC?

So are you asking should I smog it as is, or should you do the swap and then smog it. Correct.
Well you have to ask yourself will it pass smog now? If it does then do the swap and you have two years to get it right. If it fail's do you want to put money into this motor.
Or do the swap and hope that it passes. if not then you are pressed for time because the DMV will only give you two extensions.Plus you have to deal with the BAR ref and scheduling appointments.
Dilemma for sure. I would try it as is. But of course I havent driven it either.
Of course the B18 will pass if it has a good emissions system like it came from the factory. It did pass before. And all of us in CA know that the header and other aftermarket bolt-ons have to be CARB legal.

lol I know a smog guy that probly do that for ya hehe...but ya you could pass with that LS in like everyone else says only thing you wont pass is visuel....so if you can find a guy that just goes about numbers then your in luck...if I was you just go Reff it if you got the b18a1 motor and you got the obdo LS ecu then just make sure O2 sensor is good and make sure cats good I bet youd pass....I got a reffed b16 its super harder then a LS motor so if I was you reff it for 40 bucks and they smog it for you too..
NAHHHHH thats crazy talk, he can't pass reff, he will need the dual knock sensor from the 6th gen cg5 and the map sensor from a eg6. will be hard man, you will need to run the pm5 ecu on that ls to ref also.wil be hard work man.

lol Jonknee you can reff Pre obdo so he wouldnt need the new map sensor he could use the one in his stock rex basically if you got everthing on motor thats stock Id just check the O2 like I said and the obdo ecu dont have to run obd1.... now if you did run obd1 then youd have little bit more money to spend...
