Hey, I'm kinda new to this, so here it goes. When I was installing it, my SRI came with a long thin hose, and I didn't recognize it because my CAI had a short hose that's about 2.5 inches. So my question is, am I supposed to cut this hose and make it look like this:
or am I supposed to completely disconnect the metal tube thingy and have it run straight into the engine like this:
Thanks in advance

Thanks for the super quick reply JDM :D
So the metal one doesn't obstruct the airflow or anything since it seems like its smaller ?
Also, what if I were to only get a muffler tip and keep my old piping. Would it alter the noise of my car ? Would it be any louder ?

Well... the pictures show 2 different applications.. d series and a f series.
Either way, the metal piece, i simply cut it off, and bypassed the rubber straight from the intake to the engine, as seen on the picture with a red engine bay (d series). I also, bypassed the water hose that went through the same metal piece, so at the end, i actually deleted that metal piece, without loosing a thing, and all functional still!

Gotcha JDM
Wait wait wait. What water pipe ? Do I have to mess with that when installing my SRI ?
Thanks for the help! My buddy told me you guys would tare me apart here on these forums, but I guess its pretty friendly ehhh
OH YA!

What are those two metal pieces ? Lol. They look like they're supposed to be some kinda brace, but I can't figure out how to put them on the SRI then attach them to my car.

that metal connector piece contains two seperate connections... the top one is where the intake is and the bottom one carries coolant i believe. you can bypass that whole metal piece as stated above by connecting that hose from the intake to the engine.
and i think those metal pieces are some type of bracket.. some of those weird brand intakes don't always fit the way you'll like.

Heh, I couldn't find a place to put those brackets, so I just left them out. I can shake my intake around with my hand, but as long as it doesn't fall off right ? Lol.
So I guess I'll put in the longer rubber thing tomorrow. As long as I don't touch the bottom one (the one with the coolant) I should be fine right ?

correct.. i wouldnt mess with the bottom one.. a while back i did, and accidently made a small splice in the hose which caused coolant to leak and my car to overheat which then ruined my day over something so small.
