Default CF Hood Require Hood Pins?

I want to know if i can install a carbon fiber hood without installing hood pins because i dont like the look of those pins sticking out. Do i need them or are there other ways i can secure them down?? Thank you.

Well... you don't need them, but it's "good" to have them.
Since you can't drop a carbon fiber hood down to the latch.. you actually have to gently press it down until it clicks. Problem is.... sometimes, you will feel like it clicked in, but hasn't yet. When you start driving it.... the air pressure builds up under the hood, causing it to lift and hit agains the windshield (in most cases) or just brake by the hinges. Then, you know... it's pricey to get another one.... but.... it looks good, and it's light weight.

Hood pins is what's been around..... some have a cable and stuff....
If you are looking for something flushed, instead of sticking out of the hood, Bride has some hood locks, they come with a little key and stuff.
But, yeah.... that's the only way for now.

hood pins are used for safety reasons, I would strongly running them, or some type of restraint.

Because the hood is light weight, the wind will actuially make the hood flap and since the top is carbon fiber the bottom is usuially fiberglass, and it can tear away and the hood will fly open. The hood pins stop the hood from flapping...I would find a set you like and re-install them

Yeah definately. Nothing worse than doing 80+ on the highway when your hood flies up and cracks your windshield.

i really don't get why everyone is down on hood pins... i think they look pretty good. its an accessory or compliment to the carbon fiber hood. personally i think those plastic locking hood pins that sit flush with the hood are ugly. IMHO hood pins look good, maybe its an acquired taste...

well a hood pin has a function it is not a purely cosmetic modification, and therefore versatile and a valued, useful addition to anyone who choses to have a carbon fiber/Kevlar hood. your ignorance, however common, is not valued or useful in this forum.
