a lowering spring is basically what it is, a spring. a coilover is a setup of a strut and a spring combo. Some coilovers such as the A-spec or Mugen SS are not adjustable, and offer a mild drop. others, such as BC N+ and Tein SS-P are adjustable, and offer a large parameter of height adjustment. FYI, running a lowering spring on stock struts will only decrease the life of the strut, and you may end up blowing them. Do it the safe way and get aftermarket struts such as Koni Yellows or Tokico Illuminas

If you like to play with your ride height and your picky like me about how your car sits, then you will probably be more interested in coilovers, as most of them allow you to adjust the height to your liking. For springs, depending on how low you plan on going, you may want to look into a set of aftermarket struts. Leaving the stock ones on with the car lowered will wear them out faster. Also run a search on this topic for more info, cuz Lord knows its been covered a couple thousand times on H-T.

What if i just get the set of coilovers, do i have to still look at struts, or will the coilover do the job...?

By the way coilovers are way more expensive than a set of springs..... unless some one knows were to find cheap prices on coilovers

Ok your best bet for coil-over 'sleeves' are GroundControl....secondly yes you will need a new set of struts to pair up with those coil-over sleeves....running stock struts with either springs or especially coil-over sleeves your asking for trouble....look into Tokico Illumina's or Koni Yellow Adjustables....I have used both several of times and have never been let down....I teamed up the Koni's with Neuspeed Racing springs then installed a set of Progress Swaybars and got the 3 wheel motion going....but on a serious note run stick it out and get the struts man.

okay as i have said before, a coilover is the strut/spring combo. many companies already have these two paired together and refer to it as a coilover. so you do not need to look into struts. if you want lowering springs instead, you will need to look into aftermarket struts. Thirdly, there is something else you should know. Ground Controls, Skunk2 (before they came out with their newer edition)....these are not true coilovers. they are coilover SLEEVES, meaning they sit on top of the strut. where the lowering spring would normally sit, these replace. they offer the height adjustability of true coilovers but aren't as stiff and harsh. it all depends on what you want, a comfortable ride or something that'll really hold you while taking turns
