Default 07 EX Coupe (stock) - winter tires

Hey, I have an 07 EX Coupe and would like to get some 15" winters for it with black steelies.

Stock sizes are 205/55/16 I believe. I'd like to go to a 205/60R15 tire instead (to save on tires & winter steelies).

According to the 1010Tires calculator, the overall diameter/speedometer difference is 0.77% which should be quite negligeable.

The specific tires I am thinking of buying are 205/60QR15 Bridgestone Blizzak WS-50. At $68/tire, it's quite a bargain I think (especially as a Canadian buyer).

What are your thoughts on my plan of getting these tires in the above-mentionned size?

Thanks for your input!

Shouldn't have any problems, that would be a good setup.

Dude, to Blizzack.

I have the WS-50's on my 03 lancer, and they make the car a TANK!

The lancer is my winter car and its incredible in the snow.

Blizzack =

Just thought of something... will 14" rims fit?

I could then get 195/70/14 tires.

The diameter is almost the same, but is it OK to go with rims 2" smaller than stock?

Any reason why your not opting for a 16" blizzack?

I'm in Calgay as well, I'm wondering where your going to get your blizzaks at 68/tire?
are you sure its 205/60/15? because on the DX's and DX-G's (ones with hubcaps), the stock tire size is 195/65/15.

I'm being quoted 75/tire for nexens and 95/tire for yokohamas

You can get them in 15" at $68/tire (or $62 for 14") from Tire Rack.

The reason I don't want a 16" is beacuse I don't want to mount these winter tires on my stock rims. I want to keep the all-seasons on the stock rims, and have a set of winter rims/tires that I can swap myself instead of paying a shop to do it. Besides, 15" and 14" tires are quite cheaper than 16", and so are the steelies.

Before you buy anything, take your car in to where you are going to get them, and get them to try the rims out for you. The DX models that come with the 15 in rims have drum brakes in the back, and the EX/SI come with disc in the back. I'm sure it is fine, but I've heard that something back there does get in the way. The front will definitively fit the 15"s tho.

I have a 07 LX coupe, and am also in the market for new winter wheels. I'm looking at the Nokian HAKKAPELIITTA RSi. They are the number one rated non-studded winter tire in the world. My parents have them on their 04 Grand Am, and it feels like you could climb a tree with them.

I'm also thinking of getting a set of cheep aluminum rims instead of steelies. They are only around $30 more a wheel. Here are the two cheapest ones they have one sale right now, and I haven't decided which I like more. (thinking more to the second one)

(First post by the way! I'll say hello in the intro forum one of these days)

for the best traction in snow you want the narrowest tire you can get
195/70/14
195/65/15
205/55/16
215/45/17

those all come out to be close in over all diameter

First question: ASXs or Nitto Neo Gen or any Falken Ziex (looking for treadlife and winter performance)

Second question: What is the best winter safety/style ratio, between 215s and 225s.

Third: " " " " " " " between /40 17s and /45 17s?

Last: I'm thinking about purchasing the tires from discount tire direct on EBAY. Is this a wise choice, or should i just stick with tirerack?

I wouldn't do the cheap aftermarket wheels for winter wheels. The temperature and any deicing chemicals or salt will ruin the clearcoat pretty quickly. You'd be better off sticking with just hte steelies and saving 120 bucks.

i have $425 sitting in the bank just for my ride and dont' know what i sould do with it. I have the stock Michelin HX MXM 4s. Tirerack doesn't have them rated for snow at all which concerms me. So bacially, if you think those tires are good enough to deal with a Baltimore winter then i'll get an intake instead. what do you think

I know that winter isn't good on aluminum rims and the clear coat will wear out. ..But steelies rust. So really anything is going to look older after a few years. But at least this way, i can drop a few lbs and look a little nicer. and it is only just over a hundred $ more.

I don't know exactly how they compare especially in the US. But I can get 15" Hekka RSI's for about 125CAN a tire.
