RPM bounces between 5500 and 7500
I have a 88 CRX with a B16A transplant. The other day my car quit on me while i was driving. I was able to figure out that problem. The screw that holds in the rotor in the distributor had popped out. Fixed that and car started. But since then whenever I accelerate when the RPM hits 5000 or so the RPM needle bounces erratically and the engine seems to make a gurgling noise. I also notice a little bit of powerloss but not a whole lot. I have a MSD cap and Fireball aftermarket coil. I have dissconnected the aftermarket coil and the problem still happens. I was hoping that if anyone has ever had this issue or heard of a solution it would be greatly appriciated.
Thanks
Here is a pic just for fun

do you know if your igniter has gone out? i don't know if the b16 has this problem, but my old 1990 1.6 si motor had a faulty igniter...my tach would bounce all over the place, and sometimes i wouldnt be able to turn on my car...see if you can find another igniter you know is working correctly and swap it out with yours
This may sound dumb, but check to see if distributer is loose. Mine worked loose after the swap, all the vibration from hard mounts I guess, and I had to retorqe it. My tach did the jump you are describing.
same story w/ my car before the b16..ignitor..it was recalled on our cars, and i wouldn't be surprised if b16 dizzys have the same bad ignitor.

It sounds like the ignitor. Did it start the first time you started driving it after putting the rotor back on? Are you sure the rotor is on correctly? It could be just slightly off center causing a misfire at higher rpms although thats far fetched and doubtful. Just a thought!
