Default price for a usdm h22

whats a decent price for a usmd h22? I want to find a low mileage engine + transmission to swap in a 94 si (I don't like the prices of the jdm engines $$$$$).

Where should I start looking? Im looking for a reliable, low mileage, usmd h22 engine set at a bargain price

thanks

Why in the world would you want a USDM H22? Not that its a guarantee, but most of the available USDM motors I have had access to were junk.
I can get you JDM longblocks for ~$1150+shipping.....I have bought 2 and sourced 6 for others through this company....and NO its not H-Motors.

Well, i've been looking online and have found jdm engines to be around the price range of $1700-2200, and to me thats alot. Since H22's are also usdm, why not buy them here instead of importing them.

can you tell me where i can find a better deal for a jdm h22 (complete swap)?

Back when I was buying my first replacement engine, I found that USDM actually cost more then the JDM replacements. I think you have a better chance getting a higher quality engine if you get a JDM instead of a USDM.

Fine fine fine. If you can get hooked up with a jdm h22 + tranny for $1200 that is the best deal you will find.

But I am sure thats just the block.

You can't expect to get low mileage, perfect engine for cheap, it doesn't work that way.

Why are you people overpricing JDM longblocks? I'm getting my complete engine for 900 with taxes and local pickup. Ebay had it for 895, + haggling = 900 with taxes.

almost every H22 i find in a salvage yard is anywhere between 60-90k. prices are around $1500, unless you go pull it yourself, then the prices are $800-1000.

I am pretty impressed then, I worked in a Honda/Acura slavage yard for several years, and the lowest mileage h22a1 I EVER saw was 140k, matter of fact when I call around Houston, the best I found was ONE with 90k, average mileage now being more like 170k. Maybe it is just your market then.

Since the last produtction Prelude came out over 6 years ago I find that hard to believe. You may have saw one or two with low milage but I doubt "almost every H22 you come across" has low miles.

that isnt an ad. it's a directory of the local salvage yards, and the top end of prices they ask for. last year i bought an H22 from one of the yards, list price was 1650, got it for 1375 with a year warranty.

an ad for a turbonator or other bullshit has nothing to do with this.

Um, there's a difference between JDM H22A, H22A1, and H22A4..

Those ads show 2000 Preludes, so they have A4's, which would probably have lower miles than the A1's...
Also, those are going be from cars that have been totaled, JDM H22A's don't come from just totaled cars..

No, I actually drove there. There name is JDM engines or something in Paterson NJ. Paid 900 greenbacks and got myself a JDM H22A with a 1 month warranty. As usual they say it has 40-60K miles on them though. Place looks legit though went there, walked around there garage etc. and let me tell you it was JDM engine/tranny heaven. Must have been hundreds of motors (Honda,Nissan,Toyota) just chillen. Saw some nice rides too, including a JDM Sedan R going for 11K! Anyway if your interested I can hook you up with these guys.
