ac box?

Default ac box?

just an odd question i had when removing my engine and other things i.e. ac...well i was wondering about the ac box that is behind the glovebox after that comes out what goes there i saw a oiece on passjdm has a filler piece but i was wondering what is the downside by not"filling" it...i would post link but i cant find it thanx in advance....

There are 3 boxes behind the dash and the one you are talking about is the AC evaporator. What goes there if you remove it? nothing I guess.

one in the middle of the car is the heater core.

one next to it going to the passenger side is the ac evaporator.

one on the far side passenger side is the fan.

If you do not have ac most cars came with a tube that connected the heatercore box to the fan box. looked like a grey plastic.

Just remove the A/C evaporator box,then remove the evaporator from the box itself and then re-install the box it was in, that way you still have an air path for the blower motor.

Or go to the junkyard and get yourself one of these things (the blue tube) to put in its place. That's what was there in cars that didn't have AC





If you don't have anything there, there's no way for the fan to push the air through your heatercore and then out to the vents.
