with the b16 trans you should be around 3800 rpm in 5th gear at 70mph... if your taching more than 4000 then i'd say its the clutch slipping

if you cant sqeek tires shifting from first to second then u have bad clutch.

or go about 30 and put it in 5th gear and gun it, if the rpms rise but the car doesnt move then its slipping.

well why would you built your top end and not get new valves? expecially with hc pistons.. are they domed hi comp? could be a reason. and if you can get up to 65 knowing you probably killed it cause you would be getting on the interstate.. you would know your clutch is slipping..

i mean i know i put a brand new clutch on my coupe and when i slam second it drags like it's fuckn gone already.. but it's a the fly wheel.. needs to be resurfaced.. but anyway let me know

u can also check ur clutch by being parked with the motor running and put the shifter in 5th gear and slowly let off the clutch. if it keeps running ur clutch is Shot- thats what i was told anyway
