Default Battery Light

Alright i just got back from driving around, and i stopped at a store to get something to eat, came back out started my car and my battery light came on. it stayed on while driving i checked the terminals and they are fine, and also its at a high idle, it idles at like 1,000 to 1,200 Any ideas?

yes..your alternator is not charging..thats what happened to me a few weeks ago too..i replaced it and the battery light never came on again

The battery light is controlled by the voltage regulator in the alternator. Your alternator is more than likely heading south, as others have already said.
