Default B16 Head vs B18C1 Head -- Whats the difference? Internals, Specs, Etc.

I can cop a B16 Head for a good price, but i wanted a long block b18c1. What is the actual difference in the heads? Gimmie some info. i got a Gsr trans and LS engine currently. I would do a LS/vtec.

Just get the b16.. if it can be had for cheaper, then it's better obviously.

Theres some hp/flow w/e tests floating around that show little to No difference between the two.
So the better one will only be preference, or how easy or cheap it can be found.

The GSR head has a slightly smaller combustion chamber, so it'll result in a higher cr. The flow differences are negligible.

b16 head for sure. you could look around for a used itr intake manifold. also you dont have to re-sell the gsr short block unless you dont mined looking for a buyer.

the castings between the two are completely different. different port angles, combustion chambers, etc.

In general, cam caps are not interchageble to any other head.

My standard answer is that if you bought a head with missing cam caps, how was that head treated. the cam caps are custom line bored to the head casting. I have heard of some being successful with a swap. It is certainly not a guarantee.

Honda never sold the cam caps seperately from the cylinder head because the caps are matched to the head during line boring.
