Default Exhaust Leak?

I have an exhaust leak were the exhaust manifold meets the cat. I thought it was the donut gasket, so i replaced it, and i still have the leak. I jacked up the car and let my buddy rev the engine and i see that the exhaust manifold is pulling away from the cat causing the leak. So is it possible the flex springs are wore out?

Do you have a cat? If so, is your cat clogged? Are the bolts loose? I can't see how those springs can be loose, have you tried compressing them together and see how tough they are?

Make sure exhaust manifold is torque down to spec. Make sure cat flange bolt are torqued. And make sure the gasket from exhaust manifold to downpipe is torqued down. If this is not the solution check for cracks in the exhaust pipes.

I dont believe the cat is clogged, it looks brand new. The only thing i can think is the springs arent as strong as they use to be, causing the manifold to pull away from the cat.

So replace the old springs. And invest in some quality springs for proper maintainence. Good Luck.

Go to the junkyard and get some springs and see if that resolves it.

Try and get some from an EG, they're a little longer and easier to work with. At least in my experience.
