Default turn signal doesnt work

well i got a 91 crx and the drivers side rear turn signal stopped working. i checked the bulb it looked good,but i changed it anyways with a new one, still didnt work. ok so i checked all the fuses, there all good. when i turn the drivers side turn signals on the turn signal flasher makes a buzzing noise and neather the front or rear flashes at all. checked the wires all the way up to almost under the dash, no power at all.... could it be my turn signal switch itself is bad or is it somethin else???. any help would be appreciated guys thanks. Andy.

Oh and p.s im new to H-T and im lovin the site. everything i need i can find right on here. thanks for all the help!!!

I think it's either the flasher relay, or the turn signal switch itself...The constant buzz is a relay not throwing itself back and forth...Just sticking in the same position

allright thanks man. how hard is it to change the switch any clue? and any clue on what cars the flasher is the same? ive tryed replacing it once and couldnt find one at my work that would work.(auto zone)

If you can hear a buzz from under the dash and near the fuse box it's probably the flasher relay, it's the upper left most relay on your fuse box near your knees there.

yeah but would that make it so the rear one doesnt light up at all? the front one lights up just doesnt blink.

Is there grounds? Obtain a DVOM to check resistances in the turn signal wires. To do this turn on the turn signal that is not lighting up. Then lead the leads of DVOM to the bulb socket and check for continuty of a circuit. If O ohms no power either melted wires or fuse for the proper size is higher than normal amperage and you shorted the circuit. Check the leads to the bulb socket.

It's not hard at all...But you should test it first...

i did think about the ground wire. and i checked the wires for power and there not gettin any at all. how should i go about maybe adding another ground, just to try it out and see if thats my probelm?

ive checked the sockets. to my suprise they were actually really clean. barely any corrosion at all on them. i think i might be leainng towards the turn signal switch but id like to make sure before goin and spending all the money on a new one.

Did you check the circuit for amperage above 0 ohms?

no i havnt checked the wire for ohms yet. ive only checked with a wire tester, the screwdriver style with the bulb inside.

That does not work you actually need to get some actual accurate digital reading to check resistances in the series circuit. Above O is good. Jumping up from 0 to 4 means bad connection somewhere in the wiring schematics. Either a wire loom is loose or the wire is the culprit.

I am tryin to see how to get it clearer, but you just need a cont tester on a basic multi-meter to do it...
I think the problem is not in the switch though...

well i would say i would try to replace the whole wire but is that really possible? and has anyone ever done this before. or should i just go ahead and try to change the switch itself first?

I'd bet money that it's a bad flasher relay. Turn the signal on, listen to where the buzzing is coming from, that's your bad relay. (I forget which one it is).

the buzzing is coming from the flasher. but the front bulb lights up and the rear one doesnt at all thats what were trying to figure out. why isnt the rear bulb lighting up.


oh and it doesnt help that the people that had the car before had a corvette taillight conversion and a fulll molded body kit. but ive gotten it all back to stock and the wireing is the last thing i really gotta worry about

My thoughts are saying the relay first...The power goes through the relay, so if the front stays on, the relay is not "tripping" and throwing to the other side to light up the rear light and then back to the front.

It probably isn't that, call your local Honda dealer and see how much the flasher relay is for your car.
