Opinions on feasibility.. RR Mugen sedan rear bumper.
Type X posted this picture in a different thread
I plan on doing the Mugen rear wing soon now, but I worry about the lack of a 3rd brake light. During the day-time, it's pretty hard to tell if someone is braking if they don't have the third light and I don't want to get rear-ended and then be at fault. If you look at the RR sedan, it has a third brake-light on the bottom of the bumper. Does anyone who actually knows (I don't care for speculation.. we all can do that) how difficult something like that would be to put on an SI sedan? I don't necessarily want the entire rear bumper since I only have one exhaust.. just something like that.

Rear fog lamps
(ECE Regulation 38, SAE J1319) In Europe, vehicles must be equipped with one or two bright red "rear fog lamps" (or "fog taillamps"), which are switched on manually by the driver in conditions of poor visibility to enhance vehicle conspicuity from the rear. The allowable range of intensity for a rear fog lamp is 150 to 300 candelas, which is within the range of a U.S. brake lamp. For this reason, many European vehicles imported to the United States have their rear fog lamps wired as brake lamps, since their European-specification brake lamps may not be sufficiently intense to comply with U.S. regulations, and rear fog lamps are not required equipment in the U.S.
Most jurisdictions permit rear fog lamps to be installed either singly or in pairs. Proponents of twin rear fog lamps say two lamps provide vehicle distance information not available from a single lamp. Proponents of the single rear fog lamp say dual rear fog lamps closely mimic the appearance of illuminated brake lamps (which are mandatorily installed in pairs), reducing the conspicuity of the brake lamps' message when the rear fogs are activated. To provide some safeguard against rear fog lamps' masking of brake lamps, ECE Regulations require a separation of at least 10 cm between adjacent illuminated edges of brake lamps and rear fog lamps.
Now look at the US Mugen Sedan shot i took at Sema Last year..

Have a nice day.

I don't know where you look
http://www.hondanews.com/categ...age=9
but honda has the wing.
The "JDM MUGEN" wing is different than the USDM MUGEN wing.

dealerships are already selling the USDM mugen Si wheels on Ebay. Only a matter of time before other parts are available through dealers, etc.

I dont think it matters if you have a brake lite on that spoiler or not. My lx dosent have one, but its not a huge wing, and i know i wouldn't be at fault if someone rear ended me. You would be fine either way.
If your really worried about it you should call your local DMV and ask.

State law requires 3 lights in the rear... your LX doesn't have a wing spoiler BUT it has a brake light in the rear deck that the Si doesn't
Thanks

Many helpfull info in this thread. Particularly if the dealerships can order parts for the USDM Mugen Civic. Im looking into installing the rear Mugen bumper into mine. Went to a dealership last week to ask and the parts lady didn't know what I was talking about......

if you look above at the parts numbers i posted you'll see that
XVJ-000 seem's to denote "mugen" parts...
if you have your parts woman look up the HFP spoilers (lip kit)
take the front serial and add XVJ-000 to the rest of it you might come up with the mugen kit
So say the HFP was HON- DF1 - 000
Perhaps the mugen is HON -XVJ-000
This is TOTAL speculation since i dont work for Honda.... just a bank lol
FBPSiSedan perhaps can check
since i just pm'd him to

when I bought my Honda window visors, collegehills.com had them up and a part number before it was entered into the system in a way that you could search for it. I went over to the dealership where my friend John manages the parts department and we couldn't find them in the system. we looked up the part number on collegehills.com site and plugged it in at the dealership and it magically appeared. I think Honda can be kind of slack when they enter in new parts, I don't think they set up their database very well. I bet if you run colleghills.com part number for the mugen wheels at the parts dept. that they'll come up.
