Default h22 accord ECU help

I've been trying to get a out of provience done on my car but one thing that is really holding me back is the check engine light. I talked to the guy who origionally did the swap and he said he used a p13 ECU which is throwing a code all the time for traction controll i think he said so he removed the bulb. That worked up until now and I need to get the CEL light working. I asked the tech who did the inspection if I could just put the bulb back in and he said yes, but it must be out, and seeing how my car doesn't have traction controll it will never be out. He mentioned somthing about switching to a p28? Can someone explain to me a little better this whole ECU issue?

Also, the tech said they werent able to communicate to the ECU at all, could this also be a result of the swap??

thanks, chad

In order to swap to an OBD1 P28 your going to have to get it chipped. You may already have an OBD2 to OBD1 conversion harness. After it's been chipped you may be able to just plug it in.

You should be able to get more info on ECU chipping from here http://www.phearable.net/

If the ECU is OBD1 that could be the reason that they can't read your ECU. They would be using the data port behind the ashtray and it is wired for OBD2.

Are their obd conversion harnesses any good? $75 is probably about the cheapest I've ever seen

I can't actually attest to any of the products that they sell. I chipped my own ecu and made my own conversion harness. I just pointed in that direction because they seem to be the site of choice for a lot of people on here. From what I've read on there site they seem dedicated to the sport and product they are selling.

I bought my first conversion harness off egay for $50 and it was junk. Wires where way too short, not placed in the proper positions or not there at all. If your looking to buy one don't go the cheap route.

How'd you make your own harness? I might go that route instead of paying 300 for a "good" harness

so you weren't able to communicate to the ecu? ok you definitely did an obd1 engine swap. yea obd2 scan tools won't work on obd1 motors. you'll have to use a jumper to a 2 pin connector under the glove box and manually get the CEL code. did you do a type s swap? if you get the code i can help you out.
