Default 98 ITR #0309: Work in progress

So I bought a 98 ITR a few months back, and never made a "I gotz teh ITRZ!" thread, so I figured I'd make one now with an update. I made a thread on ITRCA, but not here, so here's the post I made on ITRCA.

Originally Posted by eluam on ITRCA.com
Hey, my names Chris and I just picked up a 98 ITR a couple weeks ago. I had a JDM front LS 2 years ago, but it was stolen, and since then I had been contemplating buying an ITR. I found one for a price I couldn't refuse and had to buy it. It was a little less than desired when I picked it up, but I'm working on restoring it. When I got it, it was missing the CF interior pieces, including the gauge cluster and also the door panels. In their place were GSR parts. I've since gotten JDM ITR panels w/o tweeters, and am currently trying to source some of the dash/radio console parts I'm missing. The exterior isn't very pretty either. Its got 103xxx miles, so its got the usual battle scars from time. Its got a few dings around it, a crack in the front bumper and a nasty little dent in the rear quarter on the drivers side. Also, the door lock module went out, so the power locks don't work. Kind of a good thing cause that makes one less way to steal it.

Here's a rundown of the car:
98 ITR #0309(just found the 2nd owner who had the badge, so thats coming soon)
JDM ITR Door panels w/o tweeters
JDM ITR Rear seats
JDM Clock blockoff plate
JDM armrest eliminator
GSR cluster(soon to be replaced by a JDM ITR cluster)
SMSP test pipe
Spoon B pipe
JDM ITR axle back
Stock intake arm w/ cone filter
Tein S-Tech springs
Spoon Front strut bar

I bought this car knowing it'd need some work, but I got more than I expected. Sourcing the missing interior pieces should be done before or shortly after Expo, and the body work should be done at year's end. I'm very happy to have it, and enjoy driving it so much. My plans are to auto-x it, and maybe track it a few times on a road course. Once its paid off I want to retire it from the streets and turn it into a full track car, or buy a shell and build a track car and keep this as my daily. I'm in Virginia, so I'll be attending Expo in a few weeks. Hope to see a lot of you guys there.

Anyways, here's some pics:

That was back in May. Since that time I've found a few more fun things with my car. I found out the car was almost stolen back ~5 years ago, and the dash was messed up. The part where the ashtray/cupholder clips in is broken, so I need to replace the whole dash to fix that. Luckily my friend's DC4 got totalled, so he's gonna hook me up with his dash. I've also found out I don't have a Spoon B-pipe as I was told by the previous owner, and it doesn't have a stock ITR header. Its got an apex b-pipe and a B16 header. The gauge cluster will be replace shortly. I bought a USDM ITR cluster, so when it comes in I'll roll the mileage to match the actual, and put it in.

Since making that post I've also added a J's Racing intake and a Spoon rear strut bar, along with those super JDM Spoon reservoir covers. Hopefully within the next few months I'll have the exhaust system replaced. In November I've got a nice little bit of cash coming to me that will pay to get the quarter panel fixed and hopefully get the car a fresh paint job.

The most current picture I have from my cell:

Wingless, while it awaits a Mugen Gen1 wing.

I was at Expo 7. I came along with Henryx33, who's turbo black ITR was spitting flames and smoke in the Novice class. I didn't drive as I didn't have the money in such short notice. This year I'm driving for sure, as I also plan to do some MazdaDrivers events at VIR next year.

Once I can find a camera I'll take some more pics of it as it sits now.

UPDATE 10/01/07

My new USDM ITR cluster came in today. I followed the directions in the Integra forum for rolling the mileage to match the current mileage, which was a little bit of a pain since the pictures don't work, but easy once I figured out what was being described. Slapped it in and everything works except the trunk light and my SRS light is on. I'm guessing its because I have a 94-97 airbag in a 98. The guy I bought the car from, when he bought it, it had a JDM non-SRS, so he just threw in an Integra wheel he had laying around. I've since replaced it with a ITR leather wrapped wheel, but the seller wouldn't ship the airbag, so I have been using the 94-97 one. With the old JDMish cluster, I couldn't see that the light was on. I knew it was since there was no SRS cable reel, but I replaced that and didn't take apart the cluster to check for a light. Hopefully I can find a 98 airbag and see if that makes the light go off. If not, I'll cry.

Pics tomorrow morning of the car and the cluster. I got my wing back, but I haven't figured out how to fix the screws yet to put it back on.

Nope, not at all. The weatherstrip is between the holes and the trunk, so all the water just drains out.

Looking good man, you'd never go to the mall with *** cut out leather pants would you? <---

Put the stock wing on for a little bit.

Nah, I'd wear the ***-less footy pajamas.

We'll see about putting the wing on. I'm a fan of wingless cars, but I think I'll get my wing back and put it on for a few days. I'll give it a second chance.
