Default HypeR_ash/Ashley's new caR - work in progress thread

- UPDATE 10.1.07 PAGE 4

Hey everyone, I figured I would finally post up my own thread in here. As some of you probably already knew, I had spent the past 5 years of my life, from age 16 on, building my old teg into my "dream car." I couldn't afford a real R so I did as much as I could to make it what I envisioned a clean car to be. Well, on 8/1/07 that got taken from me too soon, after only a year of having my JDM ITR swap done to it...

After that, I figured I'd only be happy with one thing.. an R of my own! So i flew all the way to TX with a friend to pick up what is now my 2001 #0618 NBP R.

This car has been a pain since I brought it home not going to lie. I took it to get inspected and it failed for the following reasons:
- right front wheel bearing needed replaced
- needed all new tires because the guy sold it to me with BALD tires (and yeah i had to drive 24 hours on them)
- rear fog light not working
- wiring completely effed up under the fender
- battery was relocated poorly to the back, if anything had hit it it would have shorted
- he pulled the fuse box through the firewall and had it chilling on the passenger side feet area, not even nicely mounted anywhere it was just hanging there.
- he had put the rear seat belts back on wrong, switching sides
- and it had a test pipe (which i did know about) so it was throwing codes for both o2 sensors.

So, after completely pretty much gutting the car, fixing as much as I could with a friend, and then taking it to a shop to mount and balance new tires, replaced the wheel bearing and hub assembly, buying a new expensive *** secondary o2 sensor, and doing the whole 90k tune up (timing belt, etc) since it is nearing that marker... it FINALLY passed inspection.

Suspension needs changed out badly, its making a weird noise when I go over bumps in the front (wondering if its because he put the stock springs on koni yellow shocks incorrectly), and the rear fog/front fogs are not working, so the wiring must be bad somewhere to the fog light switch. But slowly she is coming together. I am going to be using this thread to update with pix and whatever I decide to do to her =]

- Ashley

That's probably her driving the white DC2?

Keep the R safe if you've already had a Honda stolen from you, and welcome.

LOL. We made ITR work in progress threads close to the same time. While you posted yours I was working on mine.

Edit: And we both bought our ITR's from idiot previous owners.

Hey ash, good to meet you in nashville and good to see you got a R. Your other car was a gem.

Question though:
Why didnt you use a jumper and a obd1 ecu and just get by the secondarys that way?

good question.. i probably should have esp since my old ecu was tuned.. i dunno honestly i was just trying to get it to pass inspection asap.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by ylfotevoli &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Congrats again! Curious where your R was listed...</TD></TR></TABLE>

not to put any names out.. but it was actually posted on HT, ITRCA, and i dunno if anywhere else. if i had realized everything that would have to be done to it to pass inspection I would have tried to talk him down even more..

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by jgirard &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Congrats on buying an R Your old GSR was pretty sweet lookin! yeah i bought it back for 500. ive been parting it out for awhile now. still trying to decide if i should put the red recaros in, or try to find mint black ones, so its not as eye-catching..

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Mr.OB*GYN_Rhett &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">was the R a smoking deal or what was the reason for flying and driving back so far for it? gl </TD></TR></TABLE>

i talked him down to a pretty damn good deal considering the mileage, and shape of the body. but once i saw everything else that was crappily done, i kind of got pissed at myself lol. oh well you live you learn. i'm just glad i was able to fix all the things he messed up
