help about a tune up
hey guys, i havent gotten my car tune up in about a year and a half .. if i bring it to the shop. how much will it cost for a tune up, and what specifically will they be doing ??
Uhhhh....
Ok at the honda dealership I work at a tune up consists of:
Spark Plugs, Distributor Rotor, Air Filter. Depending on mileage a fuel filter. Also depending on mileage the heppa (cabin) filters.
Ok who the hell does a waterpump (according to vdawg559) without doing the timing belt? That's retarded in a shops' eye since you're doing all the labour of a timing belt to replace the water pump. Timing belts and water pumps are done at the same time unless there is some catastrophic problem with the water pump that it has to be changed and the belt isint' at the mileage time to be redone.
Plug wires aren't done unless they need to be. Wtf? Headjob? So much bs on this website it drives me nuts.
A basic tuneup is what I listed above. Extras are stuff depending on mileage or if it needs to be changed. t-belt, thermostat, pcv valve, waterpump, any hoses, fuel filter, heppa(cabin) filters, etc. Heck we don't even consider an oil change part of a tuneup. An oil change is an oil change.

P.S. rotate tires, check tire pressures, top up fluids, replace any burnt out bulbs, etc. Those are also done at the time of a tuneup. We don't charge for the fluids but you are charged for rotating the tires and any bulbs that need replacing.
