DOHC ZC + Nitrous anyone?
anyone around running nitrous on their ZC? how big of a shot are you running with it? what kind of plugs are you running? have you done anything to the motor for it? i got a Zex kit yesterday for cheap and figured i could run a small jet on the ZC and see how it handles it. (that 4spd kills me) just wanting to see who's all running nitrous on their ZC and seeing how well the motor handles it. thanks in advance.

probably a dry 85 shot, stock spark plugs, and advanced timing.
yeah, recipe for disaster.
nitrous is TOTALLY SAFE! you just need to know how it works.
keep in mind, the military used nitrous oxide on airplanes during world war I and world war II. if its safe in the air, its safe on the ground. just add the proper spark temperature and the proper amount of fuel.

ngk 7s is what i always use. i actually just bought a dry setup for our other broject car and plan on trying out the zex plugs. i think those are just ngk 7s, but i cant be certain until i get them.
get one step colder than your stock plugs, retard the timing 2 degrees on a 30-35 shot, and keep an eye on your plugs after every hard run.

i ran a 75 shot dry zex kit, 2 step colder ngk plugs. pulled real hard... not a problem in the world. if you get a good kit from a dealer or off of a good website it will come with instructions for how far to retard the timing. its really easy to install. and if you only plan on running a 50 shot, you shouldnt have anything to worry about.

BTW, retarding the timing that much is just to ensure it's still safe. when infact, that is really a small shot and you could probably run stock timing. (more power)

I ran the same kit on a ls moter with a 75 shot had no problems
the 55 should be no problem for that motor just retard the timing
and hang on, I'm using the same kit on my type r swap now and
when it's on it's 1 sec faster in the 1/4 mile. Have fun

From 1996-2000 i ran my dohc zc on a 75 shot zex kit. Mods were I/H/E, walbro fuel pump, B&M fuel regulator, one step cold er NGK plugs, MSD ignition and coil, lightened flywheel and DF clutch.
My best run was a 13.7@101mph....sticky tires helped a lot!!!
