Road noise. Are you using a amp for speakers? Those ipod radio things suck spend the cash for a ipod radio. I got one well worth the 220 I spend on it. But good luck
Its distortion from your alternator because its plugged into your lighter. When the alternator spins faster the noise gets louder. Solution? Go buy a deck with a AUX, my kenwood was only 100 bucks and comes with a AUX on the front. Thats probably the easiest way to fix it.

Your deck should have either an auxiliary input, or it may have just a CD changer connection and you would need the adapter from your deck's manufacturer. Then you hook a cable from the aux input to your device's headphone or line output jack. Line output is better than the headphone jack if you have one. If not, just use the headphone jack.
I bought an adapter cable for my Pioneer deck that plugs into the deck's CD changer input. It has RCA jacks on the other end. So then I just plug in a stereo mini-jack to RCA adapter cable from Radio Shack and attach that to my MP3 player.

The AUX mode on the deck changes it so that it will play signals from the auxiliary input, be that an actual input on the front or back of the deck, or the CD changer input.
