i've always loved the FD3S, but i've always hated the idea of engine rebuilds every 5 minutes

its a car i'd someday want, even if it was only for 6 months

eh, i think the FD3S is a good car. my friend owned 4 different ones! however, they look somewhat outdated to me now. not saying it's a bad thing. that's just how i feel about them now. i used to want one. the ITR's lines are classic. almost timeless in one sense. especially the JDM ITRs. maybe b/c we don't see those often in the US.

I have owned one....

Very fun car to drive.....Body is one of the most beautiful shapes out there.....

But, they have a very fickle tt system, and way to many vacuum lines....

I had a couple of FC's MANY years ago. I thought about doing an FD3S recently. I've had my fun fixing rotaries all the damn time. The only way I would do an FD today is if there was an LS1 under the hood.

FD = engine swap after engine swap after engine swap. I'm OUT on that program.

yes it is imperative that you do a nice coated downpipe, replace all the turbo vacuum lines, upgrade the intercooler and radiator, adding fuel couldn't hurt either. typically at about 60k miles if it wasn't maintained properly it should be close to its way out... maybe. before buying one try the boost test, make sure there is a boost gauge or hook up one, should be 10lbs until 4500rpm, then 8lbs and by redline back to a solid 10lbs. upon start up there should be little to no smoke as well.... hmmmm what else.... i guess all i can think of now is if its a 93 thoroughly check it, like any 1st release of a new car it has its little problems over 94+. check out the FAQ section of rx7club.com, there is an ungodly amount of info there.

i remember watching the cyber evos record run, one FD was out there and half way thru the lap it started billowing smoke from the hood...
maybe i like the idea of driving on the edge of explosion or maybe i just really like the lines etc.
all my friends say they look like a RWD taurus
