Default Cam may have advanced a tooth

The problem started w/ a CEL code 9 (CYP sensor) so I replaced the dizzy w/ a new one from Distribuitor King but that didnt clear the problem. I tried replacing the ECU w/ another one and still received a Code 9. My 90 CRX si did sit for over 4yrs so I guess an issue like this to be expected. Right now it bogs down after 2000rpm and slightly bucks @ 45mph in 4th.

My question: If my cam did indeed jump a tooth, how do I check this? pics would be awsome.

cheers

What engine are you running?
If it the stock single cam just put a timing light on it and see if its off.

Should be simple to see if its timing then. Put a timing light on it and if its off you'll see right away. Jumping a tooth is pretty common and matches the symptoms your giving us. Give us an update after you check it.

Also in the very short distances I have driven it in, I can hear a ping coming from the engine. plus, it idles @ 250rpm.

Code 9 is No. 1 Cylinder Position check sensor and circuit. Make sure it is plugged in properly and all wires all clean. Splice and solder if needed.

could bad spark plug wires or spark plugs be the culprit?

No. Your car is telling you what the problem is. It's a code 9.

Which means that something on that circuit is bad.

They won't make the car throw a code. Sounds like its either running a cylinder weakly or it is retarded by a tooth.
