Possessed Fan?
Its normal, my car does it too. Mostly when Ive beed driving it for awhile. Like I go into a store to buy something and come out and its still running. Now if you come out in the morning and havent driven it since the night prior then you have a problem.
Are you sure this is supposed to happen when your keys are out of the ignition? From what I gather (and it's possible I'm wrong), if, after you put the keys in the off position (completely off& out of the ignition), it's possible that it could be the ignition switch.
I would agree though that if it never stays on very long and you don't have power to other accessories in the car that it is probably just the car cooling itself down.
Good luck...

preludefien's fan was turning on when you took the keys out, and it would stay on until you pulled the relay out.
turned out he had the coolant sensors hooked up wrong, fixed the problem. do you have CEL 6 by chance?
