Including tax?

Isnt the cars MSRP $23k before tax?

I think thats a little wishful thinking.

Tax on a $23k car here in my area of NY is $1840 (almost $2k)

do what i did. in december when they're doing all those deals and trying to clear out inventory for new models, find out the dealer cost price and then email all the dealers in your area saying exactly what you want and for that price. then you sit back and wait for calls and emails to come pouring in. I got between five and ten replies within five minutes of sending the email. I ended up getting three free accessories out of it.

Very unlikely... The car MSRPs for 22,2xx i think, the navi add on is like $1500, plus tax, title, license and any other crap you need to add.

If you pull it off, congrats, but don't get too hopeful unless there has been one sitting on the lot. The longer it sits the more money they lose on it.

some times i wonder about this board

1) every stealership is diffrent
2) there are optimal times to go to a dealer, usually the end of the month
~that is when their numbers are due, gotta get that last sale
~for all you know your sales person could need on more sale for a free trip to maui and would be willing to give it to you at that price and a hummer in the backroom
3) be pushy, but not too much of a jackass. if you **** them off, then can usually find someone else to buy it.
4) be sure of what you can spend and be firm, start low and work to your target price
5) if 23 is all you can/willing to pay, make sure they know that in some way so they know they are going to lose a sale of they get too push or get too high on price.

If you want specifics then email me but I can shed a little light on some of this. Doc fees vary from state to state, I have seen doc fees like mine at $55 and some up to $695, obviously going to make a huge difference. Tax rates, huge variable there as well. There is also the Honda ad fee that some states have and others do not. Each of these things are going to make a world of difference depending where you live and buy.

How would you like to finance yourwheels, tires, transmission?

Not really, the dealer would rather you finance so they can sell you gap, accessories, extended warranties and other post deal add ons. It's all about maximizing gross profit.

No.. I don't think you understand how dealerships work. A LOT of the money they make comes from you financing. A young kid with awful credit and a hiked finance rate is there dream come true.. that's how they wind up selling a civic for 35+k. By paying in cash, they lose all the interest they coulda made on the deal.. you never tell them you're paying in cash until all is said and done (the dealing).

Dealers will always want to make a buck on financing but bad/no credit being a dream come true is not really true as the best bank to buy someone like that at is a credit union... and by law you can't mark up a CU's rates (at least not in Cali). Now every deal that goes through financing pays the dealer direct from the bank, but we are not the banks, they love those 35k civics with 19.95% interest rates for sure. Financing money is in back end products unless you manage to bump rate (with the internet and amount of info out there, this is not easy to do anymore). Dealers always like cash as it is easy, you just don't want alot of cash deals.

Dealerships real money comes from parts and service now, then backend finance products, then used cars and finally new cars which in many places are actually running in the red.

iamtwan it is easier to call me probably since you can't do things the normal way on here, I'll answer any questions you might have. 707-478-1064

not unless you know somebody. My uncle was the finance manager at pacific honda bfore he got sick and he quoted me 20,500 without navi. Since navi is at least 1,500 more your looking at 22,000 before tax and license at least.

good luck

Longest we have had a SI on our lot is 3 weeks. On a car they know good and well they are going to sell for sticker, there is little to no chance for moving on the price. But like they say, every dealer is different.

A local Honda dealer was in the same boat when I was shopping. They had four 2007 Si's on the lot (no nav models). As I'm standing there talking to the sales manager, five trucks are unloading '08 Accords and Civics all at once. Armed with emails on the best prices from a few other local dealers, I was able to get them down $1600 off sticker. I knew the oil filter on the Si was a PITA to change so they threw in lifetime oil changes too. Satisfied that was as good as I was going to do and still keep things cool, I told them to write it up. Very nice transaction for both parties I thought.

Whats your tax rate? I got an 07 si w/ navi for 20,900 not including tax+normal fees.

Just remember as with Iphone owners now know.... when the product first comes out, its not going to be as easily "given" away or cheaply, your better off getting 07 or waiting til end of year for an 08.

**** i walked out with my 07 si sedan brand freakin new, with no navi for 19450. BALLIN! Go on the last day of the month to a specific dealership that you think will give you the best deal and try to see how far they are from there quota. THE SKY'S the limit!

23k maybe just a little low...but then again it also depends how good of a buyer you are..my car which is an 06 Si was $24,834 out the door after the deal...with a 5.3% APR but before hand they wanted 31,000...but i talked them into giving me a great deal since this is my second time buying a car from them...so dont give in once start giving you their price...stick your budget...
