Default Testing DEI Battery Back-Up 520T 520 t battery back up test viper directed

Looking for the method to test the DEI 520T Battery Back-Up unit. I purchased as a new item over the internet, but it is clearly used, I am having a hard time returning it and would like to test it to see if it is any good in the event that I have to keep it.

?? Also, do these things re-charge themselves or are they one-time use?

Take the positive and negative wires and put them on your tongue. That's how I test 9v batteries...

And to answer your other question, yes, they're rechargeable.

The real test is going to be a load test. Wire up a alarm with siren and set the unit off using the back up battery. Can it power the alarm and siren? Can it flash the car parking lights too?

If this does not work out I give you 5 buxs for it to add it to my collection of ebay back up batteries. 26 so far. I trying to build my cat a play house.

^^What he said. If you are going to install a back up battery anyway you may as well install the one you have. Do a simulated thief run.. aka... set your alarm off, disconnect your under hood battery and see if the siren and lights work adequately. Don't drain the little battery completely empty though.

Lead acid bricks cats house? lol

Not trying to hi jack this thread but how long do the back up batteries typically last before they die when the car battery is unhooked? I have mine installed on my Viper 5900 and have just been kind of curious.

From working with them. If you keep draining them to dead drain over and over they will go out.
