Default Clutches...

Hey lads,

just joined here and did a little search on this and found nothing so here goes. I was looking on Ebay and found 2 types of clutches which were not your usual exedy, ogura atc, they were called XTD and ACT. Can any of ye here shed some light on these. A lad here has a Civic Coupe B16 Turbo and swears by his XTD paddle clutch.

Any help appreciated, thanks again,

Gorman.

Not to sure in the other, but ACT is a good clutch. What exactly are you asking for? What car do you have? Purposes for it? Power your making?

Whatever you don't get an unsprung clutch. They suck big time...

I have an act 6puck sprung clutch rated to 408lb/tq for my boosted gsr. For a lightly modded STREET drivin ITR i'd probably go with exedy/daiken oem replacement. If it is a track car maybe something with a little stiffer or aggressive pressure plate since you won't be sitting in traffic.

Honestly you could get away with a stock clutch. Unless your making more horsepower than you are theres no point in upgrading.

have you looked up xtd clutches on here? use the search and you'll find that that ebay brand is basically garbage. there are posts that say it grabs super well in the first year but you need a new one for the second year. look it up...
Exedy and ACT have good reviews.

You're full of it.

I've been driving an Action Clutch unsprung 6-puck for a year and a half now. No problems at all. It isn't bad for your trans or any other myths you've heard. A year of the time driving on it was with a Omnipower CMC and it was still very streetable.

Congrats...

I've owned both. I drove my 503whp gsr with a unsprung clutch for 5000 miles on the street so i'm not saying it isn't possible. i never said it was bad for the tranny... After owning both all i'm saying is a sprung clutch is definantly more street friendly and the way to go. I've ran the act sprung and unsprung clutch both were drivin on the xtream pressure plate.

Have you even tried a sprung clutch with your current setup?

ACT Extreme 6 puck Sprung is good for 486 tq.

Anything more and your looking at twin discs... but I think they are over kill unless your over 450 tq.

Yep. Used both the Action 1MS and 1MD, only difference is one is sprung and the other is not. No difference in driving.

I have a Bully pressure place (Ottawa Clutch) and Exedy friction disc ("Stage 1") with Fizanza flywheel.

Seems to work really good. Smooth action.

I've had an ACT stage 2 on my old teg with cable clutch and that really shook the fillings out of your teeth on hard shifts

Don't buy Clutchmasters or Centerforce. They are garbage.
