Default Steering wheel shakes...

When i get on the highway and get up to speed...usually between 60-75mph depending on how the rush hour traffic is moving...the steering wheel vibrates pretty badly...the car itself feels fine...but the steering wheel...and the gas pedal a somewhat...shake...any ideas on what the cause of this could be and how i can fix it? It's a '96 Accord lx 2.2L non-VTEC..btw

Sounds like a suspension issue.

i would start by making sure that the tires are ok, ,, If ok,, i would then balance all the wheels .

X3, mine did that before I got them balanced correctly. Are they aftermarket wheels? I'm not sure but if they are, you might need hubcentric rings.

Edit: Or you might have an alignment issue.

yeah...i went from stock steel rims to SSC Preformance Style 16x7...my new tires are a little wider too...the tires being Kumho Ecsta AST...the car was aligned when i got the new tires, also, i just had the front tie rods, struts, and i think ball joints all replaced and they aligned the wheels after that too supposedly...there's now a squeaking/creaking in the RF which i'm sure is just lack of lubrication in new parts...but i figured i'd throw that in there too just in case i'm wrong.

Forgot to mention...it tends to go away after 5-8 miles on the highway...but will occassionally start again for a bit and then again go away...quite annoying over the course of my, 80 mile round trip, commute to Lowell, MA everyday.

Well the only thing I can think of (since you got an alignment and all) is wheel balance or , I don't know the word for it, but needing hubcentric rings.
