Default Buying a 95 GSR

Im supposed to be buying a 95 integra with a 2001 gsx engine and tranny in it.

THe engine is basiclaly stock, with a few bolt ons.

Anyways, the guy told me that he has to add oil to it every once in a while... but it doesnt smoke, or leak oil.. so it must be burning it?

he said the gsr's are notorious for this.... can anyone shed some light on that?

the engine supposedly only has 30k on it?

He is lying to you, smoking and using that much oil is usually caused by excessive wear or just lots and lots of normal wear, which with 30k miles thats nothings for a honda and it certainly shouldn't be smoking. He is lying to you.

the engine shouldn't consume any oil if it only has 30k miles. Mine has 100k and it still doesn't consume oil. This is shady, stay away. IMO, don't buy swapped cars, you don't know the true history of the car, and most of the time, the owners aren't really honest.

SUPPOSEDLY>>> heres the story:
Was origonally a 95 gsr. Got in a front end colission... swapped in a 95 gsr engine with 01 gsr tranny... engine has 50k tranny has 30k.
It now has CAI,H,E...type-r pistons and rings...lightweight flywheel.....stage 1 clutch.... msd plugs, wires, and ignition...

ANd he said he checks the oil 1nce ever couple of weeks and if its low at all, he adds some to it.. meaning it must be burning a little bit.

Do a leakdown and compression test and that will tell you if the engine is ok or not. If he only has to top it off every few weeks(Then again how much is "top off"?) then it should be ok assuming the leakdown and compression come back alright.

If it has new pistons and rings that means it was at the least mildly rebuilt. It shouldn't use ANY oil unless he is throttle happy or lying to you, both wouldn't make me want to buy the car. Why would a motor with new pistons and rings and only 50k burn oil? My motor has 175k and the only time I burn oil is when I get close to redline.

like i said, very shady, buy it at your own risk. You've been warned, don't come back to this board later and complain why your car breaks down later on.
