95 accord burns oil.....bad
I bought the car less than a month ago. Stock engine, 150k on the stock f22, light mods, but nothing to the engine. I changed the oil 2 weeks ago and earlier tonight my oil light came on when making a hard right turn. It'll come on, sometimes, but i checked the oil and its defintaly low, only 350 miles after the oil change (I did a full 5 quarts) My question is could I do a compression test to see what exactly is causing this (piston rings, seals, ect) Furthermore, a buddy of mine said seafoam would help clean out the engine and fix the problem, has anyone did this with any luck? Input and suggestions are MUCH appreciated.

Obviously your car has leaks. Find them. First thing to check is the coolant. But losing oil that bad your car would be running like sht if it was leaking oil into the coolant.

Is it blowing bluish smoke out the back when you stop and take off ? or when you start the car then could be valve seals.....if it blows smoke when you down shift to go faster while you are already driving then could be piston rings.....using seafoam could make it worse it will clean the carbon build up and might make it worse ive read......what weight oil did you use? try a 10w-40high mileage oil and a bottle of rislone ring seal its in a black bottle it worked on my 240sx,it slow down the oil consumption big time it didnt fix it but slowed it way down to where i still drove it like that forever but put that same rislone ring seal in every oil change,it helped me out a lot its not a mechanic in a bottle but it seemed to work for my 240sx good luck

There's no visible oil leaks. A possible related symptom is my temp gauge doesnt work, but that would burn up the coolant before it burned the oil (the coolant oil is fine btw) There's no smoke that i can see, but there's a lot of black suit on the rear end of my car, so it's obviously burning something. No one answered my question though, Will a leakage test tell me whether its the piston rings or the seals?

A compression test will not tell you what the problem is. For that, a leakdown test is necessary. The basic principle is to fill the cylinder with air, while using a guage to measure the % of leakage in each cylinder (-10% is normal, more is bad), then listening for a hissing noise. If the hissing comes from your exhaust, it's exhaust valve seals. From the intake, intake valve seals. And if it comes from the dipstick, it's rings.
As for the oil light, this should only come on in one of 3 situations: Bad sensor, little to no oil, or a failed/blocked oil pump. In any case (other than a sensor), this is not good. The oil light is basically a "your f***ed" light. If it comes on and stays on, damage is probably already done, but killing the engine immediately "might" save it.
Good luck, hope this helps.

I'm getting new tires and a new thermostat tomorrow so hopefully that'll be the answer I'm looking for. If not I started saving up for my h22, should only be a couple more paychecks =D
