Default Mini Me Experts!!!

I just finished putting a y8 head on a sohc zc block(d16a6) and it runs like crap. I have a B&M fuel press. regualtor, a feilds vtec controller. Just wanted to know what everyone has there timing set at, and there fuel pressure. Also I have a AEM adjustable cam gear, do you leave it at 0 degrees or should I adjust it any. My timing is at 14 degrees now; but I had it set at 16 degrees and it was pinging really bad, it still pings a little now just need some help trying to tune everything in. I am also running the stock ecu. Any help would be great. Thanks

My vtec controller will let you adjust the fuel in 1% increments, should i set it at zero and start from there also what do you have your vtec set at to kick in.

find the timing for a stock d16y8 and start a few degrees behind that. so if stock timing was 15 degrees btdc then go 10 degrees btdc and work foreward. i would really recommend doing this kind of thing on a dyno with a wideband o2 sensor. that way you can tell exactly what is going on and when. you run very little chance of destroying everything, there's still that chance tho... you never know.

btw how was your install? was it complicated? how much did parts cost you total? i'm not sure if i want to do a head swap or a camshaft and motor work.

The install wasnt that bad its just trying to tune the thing that is hard. I got all the parts for pretty cheap because i have a friend that works at a honda dealership. They ended up costing me about 350 for everything and i also rebuilt my head with ne vavle seals and cleaned it all up. He is a mechanic there and has a crx with a d16a6 block and a y8 head with a act clutch, zex cam(big one) and i/h/e and he is running 13.4's no joke Ive seen it in person its awesome.
