Is it a type R?
My friend and i just got type r's. and his is a 1998. the thing i wanted to ask is,
does he have an lsd tranny? if so i read the tag on the tranny and it said B18C and not B18C5.
Allso, his R dint come with the Type R floor mat for the back in the trunk. its just plain and has no stiching on it. im just wondering. thanks guys...

On the '98, the thick, checkered pattern Type R floor mat was optional; you could buy one from your dealer, but it did not come with the car from the factory.
In later years (I think just '01), the car came with standard floor mats, but they were thinner and plain black, with the logo on the front mat. There was no optional trunk mat for the '01, which came with thin black fabric covering; if you wanted a trunk mat for your '01, you had to buy the thick checkered one from the '97-98.

No it doesn't... It should have an LSD stamp on it though...

The marking on the engine provides no evidence of an LSD if it is a swap. You have no idea what setup is in there. Hopefully it is just a Japanese ITR swap.

do you even really own an itr? lets se somepictures of your itr as well as your friends itr. btw the stamp that says B18C is on the engine itself not on the tranny. Does your car or your friends have a sun roof? If so you definitely don't have an R, just a swapped dc.

In his signature...
"1998 type R CW #822 Daily Beater"
Look on top of your transmission, should have a stamp on it that says LSD...

sure ill do it right now. im sure you guys remember me as the guy who boght and wanted to sell his itr becouse of how slow it was. lol ill get the pics up in a bit thanks for taking the time guys...
well he doesn't seem to know that much about the R. One would think that he would know if his friend really has an R if he has one. I would also think that he would be able to identify the difference between the engine itself and the transmission, especially if he had an h22 swapped eg hatch.
so this is a shot of the front by the headers, what do you guys see?

i tried but its dark and the flash blurs it. ima go copy it and ill put it up. by the way in the matter of my hatch with the h22, my boy used to work for a shop where i got stuff from and he would tell me what to get and what would work good for HP and torque and mods for a faster 1/4 mile. the best i got was 12.6 at palmdale in cali with slicks. i just paid and it was on the car the next day. lol.
hrm thats odd... generally the oem replacement blocks are sprayed orange in the same place, but to my knowledge are stamped B18C5. I can't say i have ever seen on sprayed orange that was only stamped B18C.
Anybody?
Anybody?
Well, your tranny is a USDM ITR tranny according to the VIN tag. You have LSD unless for some strange reason, a previous owner removed it.
As for the block, I guess it's a JDM replacement block? Might need someone to verify the serial # on the block is an ITR. The head codes look good.
BTW, straight-line racing is boring
