GSR swap in LS wire harness issues
Swapping a GSR into an LS. Cannot get in contact with the person that sold me the GSR and am not sure what OBD the motor is
. Engine wire harness does not match up to the chassi harness. Should I be having this problem? Ive read that the distributor is different but havnt heard anything about having to splice the connector for it. Would the connectors match right up if both were OBD1? Also front motor mount will not bolt up to new motor. Are JDM and USDM different motor mounts if it is a JDM motor? I thought all mounting was the same on all b series.
Thanks

You should know if the motor is OBDI or II by what year car it came out of. OBDII started in '96 for Integras. If your motor is OBDII, you do need to swap distributers, and i belive 1 or 2 other things as well. There are threads on this. You are going to need several sensors for your LS harness as well if you didn't recive the GSR harness with your swap(VTEC selinoid ect.) Also...did you get a P72 ECU with the swap? Because if not you will need to chip your P28.
I dont know what year car the GSR came out of because I cannot get in touch with the person that sold it to me. I was told 95, but am not sure if this is true because the harnesses don't match up and therefore why i'm posting. The GSR engine harness came with the motor. I am having trouble with the engine wiring harness connecting to the harness coming out of the firewall. I have read many forums and cannot find anything that says these will not match up. I know that my car is an OBD1. I have the P72 ECU to go with the motor.
does the distrubitor on your gsr motor have two plugs or one plug......two plug= obd1......one plug= obd 2....still you should not be having this problem unless the seller swap the engine harness wire....but other then that i should just be plug in play.....i have a 94 ls w/99 gsr motor and harness all plugs fit just perfect.
look on the block of the motor, in front itll say p72-1 or 2, this decides what obd the motor is and next to that there should be two numbers with a line in between that should tell the year for example i have an obd2 2000 gsr and mine says p72-2 and next to that its 00
It's a p72-1 so it is an OBD1 and has a p72 ECU. Im at work and will have to check on whether there are one or two plugs going into the distributor. Could there be an OBD2 harness on an OBD1 motor and still run a p72 ECU? Anyone know what harnesses would cause this problem? I know the motor was in a hatch. That's about it. I got the motor for 1k so didn't ask many questions, but didnt think I would be running into something like this.
obd1 motors also can use obd2 wire harness the only thing that seperates the both of them from going to either year chasis is the distrubitor.
