Possible shortcut?

I have been thinking, instead of building a ls/vtec the "normal" way, cant i just take a GSR motor and put the ls bottom end in it? Wouldn't this be easier and a bit cheaper?

What you described is ls vtec. A non vtec block with a vtec head. Take your gsr motor and put a b16 head on it and build it into a poor mans type-r.

You'd be better off just keeping the GS-R engine completely intact.
