Cars runs while spinning starter
Was getting injector code and fuel supply system code on my CRX (obd 1 swapped running a d15b vtec) and the car would randomly lose power/bog out. Drove it like that for a while, then finally it actaully died on me at one point. Got it started up and made it back home. It would not do anything when I'd start it, sounded like it wanted to go but never did. Smelled like it was running rich the past months so I figured a leaky injector. I swapped out the injectors friday, for good ones, and after some cranking it'll run like normal (pop up to 2100rpm to warm up etc), but ONLY as long as I'm holding the key forward with the starter spinning. As soon as I let off the starter the car dies immediately. I kept doing it and it gradually got better and now it basically runs on its own if i keep the starter spinning. Kind of has me miffed. Any ideas?
compression check. if you were running rich, they eat away the rings pretty good. you probably dont even have enough compression to keep car running.
I had the same problem minus the running rich issue. Turned out to be my ignition key tumbler itself needed to be replaced.
Just to say what was wrong, it was a bad ignition cylinder. Replaced and it started up.
The whole running rich issue was due to another issue entirely.
