Default flashing green 'key' light comes on; won't shut off even while driving

Can someone help? The green 'key in ignition' (?) light comes on (just started doing so) and stays on (flashing)as I drive. Once I had luck with shutting the car off; removing the key, and restarting. But now that doesn't help. It is really annoying (only that so far) but I am wondering what is the cause and does it signify anything besides a faulty light/connection....?

That deals with the immobilizer system. Have you ever replaced the keys at some point? Either way, it involves re-flashing your ECU, which the dealership has to do.

but its so fun to charge all that labor time to reflash ecus better than buying the new ecu and new keys and programming

Even with your immobilizer disabled, that light still flashes. You can remove the wiring from the starter key housing, flash the ECU to match your key's coding, or pull the wires from the LED behind the key light.
