Default Thinking of purchasing a 2nd R

Just moved to Australia back in early July and been looking for an ITR to purchase here. Found a potential one recently and would like to get some input before going any further. Owner has no dyno but says it puts down 320nm of torque (~230ft/lb). Based on the build, what bhp and torque do you guys think? Also what's a fair price to ask? Thanks in advance.

230ftlbs? Hahahaha, I'll bet the current owner $100 USD that it doesn't even make 230whp, let alone 230ftlbs... 230ftlbs... That's straight 300whp K-Series build torque right there.

Sounds like a good caR though. If things go right for (i.e. I get this new job) in the following months, I'll be investing in a 2nd Type-R.

Damn it looks like a ton of money has been spent on that R.

If the owner has done all of these things to this car, then I'm sure he should have records of all the purchases AND services done. Request to see the receipts.

^ Yeah, and the owner is being pretty dishonest with you about those torque numbers as well. My guess it's somewhere around 150ft/lbs, could be a little more, but probably not...

thanks for the replies. it is a Bel Garage (http://www.belgarage.com.au/) sponsored track car. it's going to be in the next issue of auto salon magazine so i'll wait and see what kind of numbers appear then. is 18-20k too much for this kind of track car?

I have roughly the same build on my ITR (spoon crate, spoon HG, Hytech Header, chrome P28) and these are my numbers (with proof) I think 230 ft/lbs is waaaay off. My turbo LS/VTEC makes 230 ft/lbs at 340 whp. Just throwing that out there. My R runs a stock exhaust. The numbers are 189whp 128ft/lbs.

well, I'm thinking that maybe he meant he has 230 whp? That might be a "bit" more believable. If he's a good guy, don't judge that he is lying right away. He may have just messed up a bit with his words. Of course you'll want to verify everything that he says, but sometimes when I'm talking about cars I get mixed up with my words.

Is that all a Spoon crate motor makes? Aren't they like $6000? I would of thought that you would get more than that.

honestly? Torquyest NA honda I've driven. (haven't gotten behind the wheel of anything K swapped yet)

It's very strong throughout the rev range. Not like my Si at all, where you have to rev the crap out of it to go. I can just punch it in any gear and it takes off. (of course the ITR tranny helps out a lot with that)

Anyway, as far as tracking it, it's the suspension that makes the car what it is. The motor isn't the big deal to me, it's how the car handles that I love. I hope that helps a bit. Not really sure how to describe the "feel" of the car.

I think they're built for endurance racing, well-balanced and able to take a beating.

Ya I knew you could rev the **** out of em without worrying about blowing them up, but I figured that they would have had about 200 whp or so for the price

I think they are actually more like 7k for the engine, seems pricey IMO

they DO make about 200whp for that price. (they come with a tuned ECU also)

but keep in mind, I run a stock exhaust and stock intake. The only mod is the Hytech header.

With the exhaust, and intake, the dyno guys think 210 whp is the number.

Ok, that's more like it. Why aren't you running at least a different intake? I understand the exhaust and trying to find one that won't be too loud, but you should get what you can out of that engine since you paid so much.

I don't know. I just love to pop the hood, and everything looks stock still. People ride in the car and think it's fast, then I pop the hood and they're like, woah it's all stock!

I have a P:JDM power chamber that I'm gonna put on it.
