Default car insurance

alright ive had my si for 6 months now and very quickly here in the northeast its getting cold. Now, i was planning on getting a winter beater because of the snow and the salt on the roads beat the crap out of the cars. Someone told me i have to leave the insurance on my si because its a new car and u always have to have insurance on a new car even then am going to put it in a garage all winter. SO, if theres any insurance ppl or anybody on that hand out there that can back this statement up, please let me know. Thanks in advance

I'm not an insurance guru but if you have a loan and the car is used as the collateral then you have to have full coverage.

Any car that is financed through anything other than a credit card is required to have full covergae, but my insurance company has an insurance for when your car is going to be stored for long periods, and not driven that is a little bit cheaper. Call your insurance company and find out your options.
