Default Check engine light stays on after positive cable is removed

The check engine light comes on. I know its because of the cat converter. I have taken the positive cable off the battery. The light stays off for a few hours, but then is on again. How do I solve this so that it stays off?

Replace the cat?

Obviously it's not just going to ignore the catalytic converter problem haha.

So you reset it for a bit, but sees the problem and lights back up.

Just pull the bulb if you're that concerned

Light always comes on. When its a code such as cat or a misfire it will take a few hours or even days to come on. If its a code as a disconnected vtec controller it will tell you right away. just replace the cat.
