I got my Turbo Zc to the Track
Ok this past weekend I was out at the track with my 90 CRX Si with a ZC Turboed.
Unfortunately there were a few things wrong with it. For one there is a leak in the exhause manifold and I think there is one else where to. Because of the leaks (I assume) I couldn't boost over 4psi. I had borrowed a boost controller and havign it set to maximum boost I got it bumped to 5psi. I only had the boost controller for the first day and my best run was on the second day. This was the first time I had ever been to the track. We were running a .400 Pro Tree
Here are two slips.
This is my first run ever:
R/T: 1.120 (totally unprepared)
60: 2.778
330: 7.290
1/8: 10.768
MPH: 73.66
1000: 13.622
1/4: 16.050
MPH: 93.27
This was my best run:
R/T: .840 (still sleeping)
60: 2.391
330: 6.488
1/8: 9.913
MPH: 70.31
1000: 12.896
1/4: 15.377
MPH: 91.31
Now I not exaclty certain on the elevation but I was told the correction is .4 so if that is true then I guess I technically ran a 14.9. Also it was 35 deg Celcius out, not sure on farheinheit. My main problem is hooking up and actually getting moving. I was always getting wheel hop (chattering) at the beginning and my RPMs would like drop to 2000 and it take me forever to climb out cause I don't have any pwer until like 5500. My best run I dropped th clutch at 6000 it hopped a little but then the tires slipped and spun for while and i kept my rpms up. I think I could have pulled a little better ET maybe a 15.0ish but I dunno that is what a some ppl were saying with my MPH i should have been pulling better.
SO what do you guys think?

15.3 isnt to bad for your first time out. Everyone will bitch and say thats slow for a turbo but I think I would be somewhat happy with that on my first time out
correct me if im wrong but i think when you have a turbocharged car, you dont correct your time for elavation...
damn 2.77 60' that need some practice on local roads

Yup...well the guy who put it on did....I live in Calgary, AB and he is in Kamloops, BC so I had to leave my car with him for like two weeks....that was killer but now it is all good I got it back.....
what's the use in correcting for elevation? if you don't live at sea level, then you didn't run a sea level time...i'm getting tired of people 'correcting' their times..that's gotta be the oldest trick ever..i dunno why it's still around. . your time is right as is. just compare it to an Si or something. what are they running? and BTW, for most events R/T doesn't affect your ET
I know my R/T doesn't affect Et...and the point to correct the time is so that every car is even. It makes it possible to compare yourself to someone else who maybe ran at sea level. What is to say I will always run at the same track?
I have gotten a 91 mph run out of a stripped GSR with after market muffler and air filter.
I think you need what all turbo cars need, traction and tuning.

If your two timeslips at the top are accurate, the power is there for a much better run. You ran a 16.x at 93mph and then a 15.3 at only 91mph.... You car was comming on really hard on that first run toward the end. When I used to run low 16s with my stock SOHC (no offense) it was at about 82mph. I'd say the power is there for a 14.8 -14.9 at least. You gotta get your skills in check and get some practice, but for you first time out it really isn't bad. People always want to get on someone for crappy times and compare themselves, but every track, day, area, and car are different. I see 14s in your future...
Work on your driving. Practice makes perfect. Don't over do it trying to nail a better time every run. Just make your pass. Think about what you could do better, and try again. If your launches suck (they appeared to) then just concentrate on that and don't think about the rest of the run. I don't mean to come off like an *** trying to belittle you or anything, but I've been racing for about 5 years, and really takes a lot of work to be consistant and smooth in your runs. Anyone can go out and flog a car, but racing one is a totally different story.

I don't think any of that was being an ***..it was really good tips...I know my launches suck...also I have crappy tires and my suspension is really stiff which apparently is bad for wheel hop which I was getting like mad so I might invest in some adjustable shocks....
