*yawn..*

A crossover in the simplest terms directs the right "sounds" to the correct type of speaker.

Lets say you have two booty shaking subs in the back of your ghetto sled. You don't want the high pitched sounds going to them, that would be a waste, you want to mo betta bass going to them, so it rattles the panties off of those chicken head freaks.

On the flip side you don't want the bass going to your tweeters because they would blow them like paris hilton on coke and amphetamines.

that what it does.. so crossovers are good. they will improve your sound when used properly.

Now a days your not really seeing external eq and x-overs. Mostly because its a chance to introduce unwanted noice into a system and because most nice headunits allready have them built in so its not required. If you would like to add a external x-over I say look into "audio control". I worked with them alot back in the day. And there products are top notch. But I doubt you would really need that.

if you want a crossover get a component system which the crossover frequencies are designed for that specific speaker. An EQ is a waste of time but if you don't want to break the bank then get an analog one. Most HUs come with some sort of DEQ build in already, might not be a 31 octave but it will get the job done crudly enough for human ears not to notice

X-overs don't break windows. A well design system does. What kind of car and whats your budget. $500 don't break windows. It might rattle some.

You don't just go buy a crossover and add it to a system.

When you buy a component set of speakers, what you get is a pair of mid bass speakers, a pair of tweeters, and a pair of crossovers.

The crossover has an input, a tweeter output, and a midbass output. You connect the factory speaker wires to the crossover's input. The rest is obvious.

"Lots of tweeters" can only be a bad thing. You don't need more than two. Any more than that is just going to degrade sound quality and ruin your staging.

Show us a picture of your enclosure. Those speakers have the capability to rock some windows. Your enclosure is whats holding you back. But your going to lose trunk space. Or you can step up to some higher end speakers and a better amp and gain a lil more. Whats your budget?

im not talking about component speaker crossover im talkn about the one where you can hook your subs up to it to so you delete the vocals out.

i spent to much on my amp i dont really wanna do anything with the amp and thouse speakers are good. box is good. when it hits it feels like your hearts gonna stop its just that dont satisfy me. i want my windows to break.

The amp powering the subs should have a low pass filter (active crossover) built into it. Start at around 120 and turn it down until you only hear the desired sounds coming from the subs.

If the amp doesn't have a lpf, it's not a sub amp.
