Ok so painting your valve cover is becoming a big thing, but i was curious if any one has painted the oem heat shield over the header? Anyone have a pic or even a reason why people dont paint them. Any infor would be nice.

Because it would be ugly.

don't overkill your engine bay with "custom paint designs." if you really wanna do something with it, just get some high temp paint and spray it flat black similar to this....

matte black is all I would do. its a good way to kinda help make your bay look a little cleaner, especially if its old and rusty.

Most members on here with a painted valve cover have an aftermarket header without a heatshield.

I understand that most people dont even have heat shields but i was thinking like a real plane valve cover or even just stock not painted. and then some design on the heat shield with a itr header? it was just a thought but thanks for the feed back

Yeah, a matte black (like what I have) or maybe an OEM silver are the only colors that would look good.

I think powdercoating it would work, maybe even having it chromed or bronzed would be cool.

the best paint to use for heat shields is high temp paint intended for grills / bbqs. the finish is flat black and resists high temps as well.
