Default Cheap s2k, too good to pass up?

Well, Ive been lurking the s2k forums cuz I'm going to own one for the experience even if I don't keep it. (i probably will cuz.. well its an s2k ) I found an ad for an 8500$ s2k, thing is that its been supercharged. and judging by just listing and pics it has been beat up a bit.

overview on the car:
dents/dings
supercharged
i assumed salvage but not listed
only 48k miles
00 so it has the plastic back window.

Judging from the listing, I don't believe it was tuned... he says 245hp so i assumed its WHP which is about +30whp from stock iirc from reading. 30whp on a tuned SC seems a bit low imo, so i figured it was untuned.

I mean I know it's worth the money, but does anyone think that the life of the motor has been compromised? and this next Q is strictly for people who've DD'd both AP1/AP2s. Is the pickup from the AP2 noticeable vs. the pickup of the AP1? I've read a lot on the AP1 redline stuff, but im gonna be DDing the s2k so I'll hardly ever use the 9k redline, however the .2liter displacement I will be using.

Im basically asking, is it worth it in terms of s2k's (not value) to buy this AP1 over waiting and probably paying more for an AP2?

I was also thinking that I could part out the supercharger and buy some nice bolt-ons to help with the DD thrills.

I'm coming from a 98 prelude with bolt-ons, if anyone out there has owned a lude before, hows it compare in terms of power?

Hope to join you guys soon Thanks

If you buy a $8500 dollar S2K in any condition short of being a salvaged wreck, you are just asking for trouble. IMO the seller is either scamming you or trying to pass off his problems on someone else. Stay far, far away.

yeah it does seem a bit fishy, but he has a phone number and is pretty local. ill do the rundown check on it, and see what i can learn through archives for common problems on s2k's. i mean i believe the "u get what u pay for" saying, but i also believe that there are great deals out there.

he hasnt picked up tho

update: he says there are offers above his asking price. what do you think is the MAXIMUM I should pay for it if most things check out good? Im trying to set up a meet ASAP to swoop in on this deal. he's trying to set up a viewing for the car for all buyers on sunday.. figured if i set up for before, I could walk away with a certain price.

ha ha i think i hit 9 all the time...or atleast close to it....MMM amazing feeling! but i dont think i would pay more then 11-12k for the car...it seams really fishy seeing that he wants to get rid of it for 8500...however if i were you i would stay away and save up your money and do it right...i would buy an AP1/AP2 that has been bone stock from the factory and then work on it yourself...but thats just me, i made that misstake and bought an AP1 that was supercharged and i had the guy take it off thinking it would be ok, well my check engine light is on and i think its because he burned up the injectors...$400 fix...but its your call my friend...just look into it alot and good luck!

thanks, i think i decided not to chase it, instead i will be resurrecting s2k's from salvage yards i think. if he contacts me soon, ill make the trip up to check it out.

yes i said s2k(s)<-- !!!

the first one will be to see how much people are willing to pay for mystery salvage, if its profitable then ill probably go through 3-4 s2k's before i own a permanent one that ill def be building. I seriously think this is my intro into the wrenching world, even though i'm probably not pursuing this career. more like a paying hobby i'll enjoy. :]

of course if i do this ill be posting pics, progress, asking for help, and writing up as many write-ups as i can all the while trying not to be a ***** on H-T

thanks for the help guys, found better resources.
