Default Delayed Start

I have 2 issues with my 97 civic hatch, stock y7.

1) The required maintinance indicator is orange on my dash. What does that mean? How do I fix it/reset it?

2) Sometimes when I try to start my car, I'll turn the key but it takes about 2-3 extra seconds before the engine turns over. What could be wrong? Before it started right up.

Thanks.

To reset the light on newer hondas you turn the key off, push and hold the odometer reset button. While continuing to hold the button, turn the key to the "on" position. (Don't start the car) after about 10 seconds the light should turn off. This works on newer hondas, should work on yours too.

About the hesitating starting, do you mean wait 2-3 seconds to start turning over? or 2-3 to start after the engine already turning over? Does the engine turn over as fast as it used to?

Your starter is likely going. If it sounds slow and delayed, it's about to burn up.

That's your starter going out. Mine does the same thing. When I turn the key, I have to hold it for about 2-3 seconds before the car starts. I've just been too lazy to change it.

It's not a light. It's like a little square indicator that is still orange when the car is off... I don't know how to explain it, but it's right under the speedometer.

Anyway to put a d15b7 starter on there? Is it a hassle? obd1 -> obd2?

I called auto parts stores around here and they said 158$$ for a new starter, which is bullshit. I'm probably gon get one from the junkyard but I do have a b7 starter sitting around.

I got a junkyard starter for my y7 a while back from a junkyard for $40 with a one month warranty.
