Will a F22c block fit the f20c?
i have an 01 s2k f20c but fucked up the piston, and crankshaft. A guy is selling me a block with everything but its from a f22c.. would any of u guys b able to tell me if it does.thnx
So in other words you want to put an f22c short block and mate it up to an f20c head? Yes it's doable, yes it will work (how well, well that all depends).
i have a question along these lines too... i have a 2003 honda s2000, and my motor popped on me. I want to get a brand new motor. I found a good deal on a 2005 motor which is the 2.2 liter one. Has anyone done a motor swap with thw 2.0 liter and the 2.2?
Do you need any extra parts? or is the f22 engine a direct bolt?
Also, if i swap a f22 engine in my car, do i need the transmission as well? Or can i use my old transmission which is a 2003 from the f20 motor?

you can run your ap1 transmission with the f22 motor but you wouldnt feel the advantege of the 2.2l. The ap2 transmissions' 1-3 gears are shorter then the ap1. I would not recomend running a ap1 tranny with the f22 motor.
but the ap2 tranny with a f20 is a whole diff story.

F20c and F22c have the same 87mm bore, but the stroke went from 84mm to 90.7mm in the 2.2L and yes, the external dimensions of the block are identical, so the tranny from all years will fit either block.
Cranks may not be interchangeable depending on which way you want to go, and with the different stroke, the rod length or the pin location may be different, so I do not know what is swappable there.

Why would a LOWER RPM (F22c) engine get the SHORTER gear set? It should be the other way around.

You need to ask Honda engineers about that.

i was thinking the same thing
a lower rpm more displacement more torque engine should have larger gears

If a head is warped, decking it will not solve the mis-alignment of the cam bearings if it's severe enough. An experienced machine shop can straighten a warped head in an oven by mounting it to a thick steel plate and bolting it down with shims in the correct location to influence it back to straightness again.

Why do you mention the cranks are not interchangeable? The F20C and F22c pistons have the same compression height, so one can use the F22C crank and rods in a F20C block with F20C pistons and have a nice and cheap stroker kit with around 11.5 compression. This is almost what major brands do anyway for their stroker kits.

my question is, since the piston speeds on the f20 and f22 are similar with a 700 rpm difference in redline, can you rev a f22 block with a f20 head to 9k? i know this would raise the piston speed up but the f22 is something like 200 FPM slower at 8300 than the f20 at 9k.

I would think that it wouldn't be a rod problem. Aren't the oem rods forged? But i suppose at pistons speeds of over 4k FPM anything can fail.

The question... "would it still retain the same power, just with more torque?"
The answer is no! A setup like this would require a custom tune that would produce more power and torque over the factory F20.
